it’s managing all of a project’s elements — from initial design to print, from broad concepts to the smallest details — and finding the most efficient processes along the way (GREP, anyone?)
it’s helping people who have stories to tell, ideas to convey, data to present, words that can benefit from another set of eyes
it’s collaborating with academic institutions and non-profit organizations in their efforts to improve lives, and helping them share and advance their work — through clear text, compelling data, and artful and engaging design

My experience with long documents is comprehensive, encompassing everything from overall concept and design to image creation, typesetting, graphing, writing and editing, indexing, working with commercial printers, and creating files for digital applications.

I am passionate in my belief that design matters. A typeface helps express the voice of your words. Colors affect how data is perceived. White space — even if it’s in color — gives the eye and the mind space to breathe. Every piece of communication, no matter its size, deserves good design.
A printed brochure, a welcome sign at a doorway, an Instagram post, a menu—every visual interaction is a chance to create an impression, to draw people in, to engage with them. Every piece deserves good design.

Data visualization is a new term for an old act: telling stories. In this case, the stories that can be found in numbers, in data. I work to visually present data in ways that inform and engage readers.
